About Us

As a collective of esteemed and experienced university educators, we stand at the forefront of a transformative movement in Hong Kong's higher education landscape. With a profound dedication to the principles of inclusivity and accessibility, ELESEN (Enhancing Learning Experiences for Students with Special Educational Needs) has been established as a dynamic force committed to reshaping the educational experiences of students with diverse learning needs in post-secondary environments.

In an era where the importance of diversity and inclusion is increasingly recognised, ELESEN champions the cause of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), whose potential has too often been overlooked or underestimated. Our mission is not merely to adapt to the growing numbers of students with SEN but to inspire a paradigm shift in how education is delivered and perceived across post-secondary institutions.

With a sense of genuine urgency, ELESEN aims to spearhead a movement that cultivates awareness, understanding, and action among teachers, administrators, and students.  We are dedicated to fostering a Community of Practice (CoP) that serves as a beacon of knowledge, innovation, and support. Through collaborative efforts, research, and the sharing of best practices, we strive to dismantle barriers and construct bridges to educational success for all learners, regardless of their individual challenges.

The time to act is now.  As the demographics of our student population evolve, so too must our educational strategies and infrastructure.  ELESEN is more than an initiative; it is a call to arms for all stakeholders in the post-secondary education sector to recognize the imperative of inclusive education.  Together, we can create an academic environment where every student is empowered to learn, grow, and thrive, ultimately contributing to a more equitable and vibrant society.

Join us in this critical endeavor. Let us work hand in hand to ensure that the promise of education is fulfilled for each and every student, and that Hong Kong's post-secondary institutions become models of excellence in inclusive education practices. The future of our students, and indeed our society, depends on the actions we take today.
